Service to Inmates in Correctional Facilities

This policy will be reviewed and updated as needed.

PURPOSE

To provide guidelines concerning the types of services to provide to blind and visually impaired individuals residing in prisons located in Florida.

AUTHORITY

FS 413; Rehabilitation Act of 1973, As Amended

POLICY

The Division of Blind Services (DBS) will take no responsibility for the medical care, especially eye care, of inmates in correctional facilities. DBS will provide information and referral only.

These limited services are information regarding Talking Books or the Hadley School courses, assistances in completing the applications. Staff of the correction facility may be provided with training about blindness.
