Authorization of Services

July 9, 2003

January 18, 2013

This policy will be reviewed and updated as needed.

To ensure timely authorization of services and any conditions under which oral authorization may be given.

34 CFR 361.50(e)

Generally, no oral authorization is to be given for service provision. All services are to be included in the Individual Plan of Employment (IPE). All oral agreements must be, at a minimum, documented in a case note. Services must be authorized by a Rehabilitation Specialist who has independent status, a Supervisor, or a District Administrator prior to service provision.

All services must be authorized in a timely manner to ensure that services are provided within the timeframes established and denoted in the IPE.
